This is an example of how an estate will appear. House of Lotus is onboarding its founding growers now; specifications and pricing are indicative until a lot is confirmed.
Prakash Estate sits in the western Nilgiris at an elevation few Indian coffee farms reach. Prakash Murthy's grandfather planted the first Arabica seeds here in 1962, after a decade working on larger colonial-era estates nearby. The family never sold to a co-op. Every lot was processed on-site from the beginning.
Today the estate is run by Prakash and his daughter Ananya, who returned from agricultural studies in Coimbatore to introduce anaerobic fermentation trials in 2021. The results — a controlled, fruit-forward natural process — earned their first SCA cupping score above 87 that year.
The Nilgiris are unusual among Indian coffee regions: the combination of monsoon shade, acidic red loam, and altitude creates a cup profile closer to Ethiopian naturals than anything else grown domestically. Prakash Estate is one of the few producers here exporting at specialty grade.
